A Letter to the One You Love, Sent to Your Future
The most extravagant thing you can do with love is keep this exact feeling intact. The sweetest things said out loud fade into the everyday — but put them in a letter, addressed to your first anniversary, the night before your wedding, or an ordinary day ten years from now, and they become proof, delivered to your future selves, of what this love looked like at the start. How to write this letter
- Capture your ordinary days: the restaurant you always go back to, the little habit of theirs that gets you, the last thing that made you both laugh. That's what the future wants most.
- Write the thank-you or the apology you've never managed to say out loud. A letter makes it easier — and more solemn.
- Pick a delivery date that means something: your anniversary, their birthday, or a future the two of you have promised each other.
- Or each write one and swap — schedule them for the same day and open them together. Plenty of couples do.

Once sealed, a letter's content and delivery date can't be changed — but if you truly don't want it sent, you can delete it from your letters page before delivery day. Many people play it safe by sending the letter to their own inbox and deciding later whether to pass it on.
Can my partner peek at it early?
No. Between sealing and delivery day, nobody can read it — not even you. The surprise stays whole.
How far ahead should I send it?
First anniversaries, wedding anniversaries, and birthdays are the favorites. For a first letter, keep it within a year — it's free, and the anticipation is just right.
